Aunt Evelyn's Chicken Strips

1-2 lb chicken strips
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

wash chicken in bowl of salt water and completely drain strips
in medium sized bowl beat egg and water
add flour, salt, and black pepper; mixing thoroughly with a fork
place strips in batter
fry strips immediately until light brown or cooked through
